Little Ninjas: Ages 4-6

Philosophy:
Dickey's Karate & Martial Arts Little Ninjas program utilizes early childhood teaching practices to guide our students to develop not only physically but mentally. We believe that all children need a good self-concept; a good feeling about themselves. This is essential for learning and making proper choices in life. Students will develop these qualities in a safe, positive environment. We provide them with a plan to follow that matches their learning level.

Goals are the focus of the martial arts. At Dickey's Karate & Martial Arts, children receive tangible rewards for their efforts during each session. And, at the end of each session students may demonstrate their hard work by taking a belt level exam, if they are ready and show interest. This reinforces the importance of goal-setting.

We believe that these skills, coupled with your efforts as a parent, give your child the tools needed to prepare them for life's challenges, both academically and socially.

Class Information:
Little Ninjas classes are 30 minutes long. We believe students peak at their learning curve within this 30-minute period.

In class children learn punches, kicks and hand techniques. They are taught real martial arts movements so as they progress and get more responsible they can apply the techniques in real-life situations.

Although the class is structured and serious, we also believe in providing a fun learning environment. We play games to help them learn, and we talk about how to work together. Our students experience varied learning techniques to help them grow to respect themselves, each other and the instructors, and to appreciate the learning environment.

Students also learn to yell for help in any situation. They learn how listening is better than just hearing something, and they learn how to actively watch their teacher. We want to help our students to understand that they are responsible for their own learning and growth.
